Save the Children to hold children marathon in Sana'a

SANA'A, Oct. 12 (Saba) - Save the Children in partnership with the Children’s Parliament will take part in the “Race for Survival” to be held in Sana'a next Monday on the occasion of the World Food Day.

Approximately 500 children from nine schools of Sana'a will participate in the marathon, with the aim to highlight and raise awareness about hunger and malnutrition- an underlying cause of death for thousands of children each year all over the world.

Jerry Farrell, the Country Director of Save the Children Yemen, other international and national organizations and children parents will attend the event.

“Save the Children is delighted, along with the Children’s Parliament, to support this Race for Survival. Hundreds of children around the world die each day from malnutrition and starvation", Farrell said.

“The tragedy of this lies in the fact that we can prevent all these needless deaths. Join us in this campaign to raise awareness about these issues and, more importantly, work together to prevent these pointless deaths. Thank you for everyone for running today for a great cause".

Save the Children is the first international organization working in Yemen since 1963. It is currently one of the largest leading organizations which seeks to provide a world where a child has the right to survival, protection, growth and participation.
