Yemen Friends offer additional grants for TPSD 2012-2014

NEW YORK, Sep. 27 (Saba) – Number of countries and regional donors' organizations, participated in the 4th meeting of the Friends of Yemen, announced Thursday to offer additional aid and grants to support the implementation of TRANSITIONAL PROGRAM FOR STABILIZATION AND DEVELOPMENT (TPSD) 2012-2014 for Yemen.

Kuwait declared to offer US$ 500 million as contribution for financing development projects identified in the TPSD, while Qatar pledged a similar amount devoted to support the humanitarian issues in Yemen.

Netherlands pronounced its commitment to provide additional aid beside that allocated at the Riyadh donors' meeting of US$100 million.

Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) stated the allocation of US$120 million to support the process of political and economic stability in Yemen via the TPSD that was prepared by the program in cooperation with the Yemeni government.

The UAE obligated to provide the amount of US$150 million as an additional aid to Yemen as well as to continue propping up the implementation of development projects in Yemen within the framework of specific financial allocations to carry out these projects at a cost of US$ 304 million.

Whereas France guaranteed offering US$ 80 to support Yemen during the transitional phase in addition to US$ 1,5 million to prop up the political stability and promoting the capacity of the Supreme Commission for Election and Referendum.

Finally, Australia has allotted US$ 5 million for supporting food security projects and the Kingdom of Denmark pledged annually US$ 10 million to support the framework of mutual accountability between Yemen and the donors.
