Yemen, U.S., UK talk on security cooperation


SANA'A, July 22 (Saba)- Yemen and U.S. discussed here on Sunday relations of security cooperation between the two countries and ways of boosting them.

This came during a meeting gathered here Interior Minister Abdul Qadir Qahtan and Senior Representatives of the U.S. Department of Defense and the military attache at the U.S. embassy to Yemen Randolph Rosen and his accompanying delegation.

At the meeting, Qahtan praised the U.S. supportive position towards the Yemeni people and government, valuing the U.S. support for the Yemen security bodies in the different fields.

For his part, Rosen pointed to Yemen's efforts in combating terror and sea piracy and restoring the security and stability in Yemen despite the last year crisis.

He confirmed his government's keenness to support Yemen's security, stability and unity with all means, especially supporting the security bodies in the field of training and the modern techniques for the coastguard police and counter-terrorism units.

On another hand, Qahtan discussed with a delegation from the British Embassy in Sana'a ,headed by the government's consultant at the embassy,  the cooperation relations between the two countries and ways of developing and enhancing them especially in the security aspects and experiences and information exchange.

Qahtan expressed his appreciation for the support of the British government to the Yemeni security bodies, commending the British supportive position to Yemen and its unity, security and stability.

The British official praised the strong cooperation relations between Yemen and Britain, confirming his government's keenness to enhance the cooperation with Yemen and to support Yemen's efforts in combating terror and organized crime.
