[01/February/2011]

CAIRO, Feb. 1 (Saba) -- Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak ordered the new government to start dialogue with the opposition parties to end the current crisis as soon as possible, Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq said Tuesday on El-Mehwar TV.

"Dialogue is open with whoever wants to engage in dialogue," Shafiq said.

The new government is committed to meet all people's demands despite existing conflict of interests, Shafiq said, urging people to respect the law.

Meanwhile, he praised popular participation to protect private and public properties from violence and looting amid massive demonstrations.

"I will try with my new government to provide more alternatives to satisfy the public's requests," Shafiq said.

He also said that the long-hour curfew has forced many airlines to halt flights.

Banks will be open once security and stability are restored in the country, he said, adding that measures have been taken to protect banks against looting.

Also on Tuesday, the Interior Ministry changed its old slogan " police and people work to serve country" to a new "police works to serve the citizens", Mahmoud Wagdi, the newly-appointed interior minister said in a statement on the state TV.
