Thousands march in capital in support of reforms

SANA'A, Jan 27 (Saba) – Thousands of people marched in the streets of Yemen's capital Sana'a Thursday chanting support to the constitutional reforms proposed by the ruling party and approved by the House of Representatives earlier this month.

They carried the photos of President Ali Abdullah Saleh and placards written on them slogans condemning regionalism and criticizing those seeking sedition, to disturb the public security and peace and to hamper development and democracy.

They also chanted slogans expressing their refusal to any attempts aiming to thwart holding the upcoming parliamentary elections on time.

Furthermore, they urged the people to support the government and stand up for those who try to drag the country into destabilization under the excuse of walks for change.

The marches coincided with massive rallies by the Joint Meeting Parties, the opposition, as the authorities said the people have the right to walk and protest, but anarchy or violence will be unacceptable.
