Iran, Turkey to Enhance Broader Bilateral Security Cooperation

Ankara, December 25 (Saba) - Iranian Interior Minister Mohammad Najjar urged the need for a border cooperation between his country and Turkey, asking for further activation of security cooperation between the neighboring provinces of the two countries, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA).
In a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Bashir Atalai held on the sidelines of the Third Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), which concluded yesterday in Istanbul, Najjar said Iran is ready for the expansion of cooperation with Turkey, according to Irna news agency.
For his part, Turkey’s Interior Minister Bashir Atalai asked for a meeting between the deputy interior ministers of the two countries to study means of implementing the reached agreements at the Joint Security Commission in near future.
The interior ministers of the two countries emphasized as well the need for speedy implementation of the articles of the Friday Istanbul Ministerial Eco Final Declaration.
ECO is an intergovernmental regional organization established in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey for the purpose of promoting economic, technical and cultural cooperation among the Member States.
