Mubarak, Abbas Discuss Mideast Peace Process

Cairo, December 15 (Saba) - Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday held a session of talks on the steps to be taken by the Palestinian National Authority for the resumption of the Mideast peace process, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA).

Talks also dealt with the efforts being exerted by Egypt to push forward peace negotiations and achieve a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian, which reaffirm the inalienable legitimate rights of the Palestinian and recognize the independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with the capital in East Jerusalem.

The Palestinian President briefed Mubarak on the outcome of his meeting with the United States Special Envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell, which were focused on means to achieve a final settlement for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict according to the International legitimacy.

Egyptian President Meets Mitchell
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak met here Wednesday with US Special Envoy for Middle East Peace George Mitchell. During the meeting they discussed the US efforts and ideas to push the peace process in the Middle East despite Israel's refusal to freeze settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The two sides also reviewed the Arab, American, European and international efforts to resume negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides to reach a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian issue and establish an independent Palestinian state.
