Ramallah, October 03 (Saba) - The Palestinian leadership admitted that the U.S. efforts to save the peace process have reached an impasse, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA).
The peace process is at a standstill since Israel has not proven a real will for a just and lasting peace settlement, based on justice and on the resolutions of international legitimacy, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, told reporters in Ramallah.
The Palestinian leadership on Saturday held Israel responsible for the collapse of talks over continued settlement construction, PLO Secretary-General Yasser Abed Rabbo said Saturday.
The PLO official added "intense discussions" will be held with the Arab Follow-Up Committee to determine the next course of action to "protect Palestinian and Arab rights to guarantee the launching of the political process from a strong basis in harmony with international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative."
Abbas is scheduled to announce his stance on talks with Israel at an upcoming extraordinary session of the Arab League later this week.
