Smokes Cover Russian Skies Again, Visibility Drops
[15/August/2010]
Moscow, August 15 (Saba) - Smoke from wildfires was back in Moscow again Saturday night, brought to the city by the east wind, though it was very weak, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA).
With Russia''s air temperature as about 20 degrees, the smog may be felt in most regions of Moscow, but most sharply in the south-eastern, south-western, southern and eastern districts, reducing visibility in some places to 300 metres, and the drivers had to turn flashes on, according to the Russian news agency (Itar-Tass).
Russia is witnessing wildfires caused by the worst heat wave the country has endured in decades.
A state of emergency has been declared in 35 regions of the country, seven for the fires themselves, and another 28 for crop failures caused by the drought and heat wave.
