Pakistan seeks clarification on Cameron terror remarks

[02/August/2010]

ISLAMABAD, Aug 1 (Saba) -- Pakistan on Monday protested to the remarks of British Premier David Cameron and summoned British High Commission to the Foreign Office to formally lodge the protest, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

The protest came as President Asif Ali Zardari reached Paris on his first leg of eight-day tour to France and Britian.

According to Foreign Office, British High Commission Adam Thomas was summoned to the foreign office and in a meeting with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmoud Qureshi a protest was formally lodged on the British Prime Ministers comments. Pakistan has sought clarifications on the remarks, said the Foreign Office.

British Prime Minister David Cameron in India last week had accused Pakistan of exporting terror. Islamabad described the comments as saddening and contrary to facts on the ground. Reacting to the comments, a delegation of Pakistans Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) and its chief called off their visit to London.

The security and the political circles have also been demanding the President to cancel his visit. However, the President decided to go ahead with it.
