ISLAMABAD, March 30 (Saba) -- About thirty-eight militants have been reportedly killed and near fifty others wounded in the ongoing military operation in a Pakistani tribal agency, close to the Afghan border, said officials on Tuesday, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

Military helicopter gunships pounded several suspected militant hideouts in at least three districts of Lower Orakzai tribal agency, security officials told KUNA. They said several militant compounds were destroyed and heavy fire was traded during encounters.

Sources said that about 38 militants were killed and near fifty others were wounded. More than 150 militants have been reportedly killed in a week in the ongoing operation.
