SANA'A, Dec. 03 (Saba)- A sub-regional workshop on reality of women committees and horizons of developing them was opened in Sana'a on Monday.

The workshop was organized by the women and children Circle in the General Union of the Yemeni Labor Syndicates in cooperation with the Norwegian Labor Union.

Some 30 female participants from Yemen, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait and Tunisia are taking part in the three-day workshop to discuss means of developing skills of females who are working in activities of the labor syndicates as well as spreading awareness on their rights and international agreements that protect rights of male and female labors.

In the opening session of the workshop, Deputy Minister of Social Affairs and LaborAli Saleh Abdullah highlighted the present cooperation between the two Yemeni and Norwegian labor unions to improve capabilities of women in field of the activities of the syndicates.

Chairman of the Yemeni Labor Union Mohammed al-Jaradri and chairwomen of Yemeni Women Union Ramziah al-Eryani affirmed concern of the political leadership to boost role of women in different fields.

They praised the Norwegian support for women sector.

For her part, head of international solidarity in the Norwegian union, Maina, appreciated steps taken by the Yemeni union to pay attention for issues of women.
