SOCOTRA, Nov. 23 (Saba)- A team from the International Union for Conservation of Nature affirmed on Friday the importance of Socotra Island environmentally and naturally, considering it one of the important sites in the world.

The team, which visited the island recently, said that there are important elements in Socotra Island that qualify it to be included in the World Heritage List for its environmental variety.

The team valued effort of the Yemeni government in protecting environment in Socotra.

It affirmed the importance of bettering development so as to ensure that it does not affect environment in the island.

The team noted that it will raise a report to the International Union for Conservation of Nature on its recommendations and notes to decided if Socotra qualified to be included in the World Heritage List.
