Sana'a National Museum shows Hawthar Athat statue for 1st time

SANA'A, Nov. 10 (Saba) - For the first time, the Sana'a National Museum showed on Saturday in its first floor the bronze statue "Hawthar Athat" which was restored by French Louver museum in Paris early this year.
The event was attended by director of the French Louver museum Henry Loyrette, a number of the diplomatic crops to Sana'a and the Minister of Culture Mohammed al-Maflahi who highlighted the French Louver museum's care over the statue, wishing further cooperation between the ministry and the museum.
Loyrette expressed happiness to visit Yemen, which the Louver museum has always wished to cooperate with because of its great historical and cultural heritage, pointing out to the agreement signed between the museum and General Organization for Antiquities and Museums in December, 2006 that organized the relations between the museum and the Organization.
He said that this agreement was the first step towards further cooperation between the museum and ministry of culture in different fields, voicing the Louver's readiness to bring the Yemeni museums into view and offering all the assistance in fields of holding exhibitions and giving advices concerning maintaining and restoring Yemeni antiquities.
Yemen has received the bronze statue "Hawthar Athat" at the end of last October from the Louver Museum in Paris after its renovation, which lasted four months.
The statue was made of bronze and dates back to the Sheba age. Hawthar Athat is ranked as the second bronze statue after the King Dhamar Ali statue in terms of size. AH/AF
