Police thwarts attempt to smuggle bronze statue
[06/November/2007]
SANA'A, Nov. 06 (Saba)- An official source has said that security services at International Sana'a Airport have thwarted an attempt to smuggle a bronze statue.
The director general of the protection of archaeologies in the General Authority for Antiquities Hashim al-Thawr said that an Italian tourist claimed that he bought the statue form a huckster.
Al-Thawr pointed that the statue is a rare piece of a formed-woman standing and taking hands at the middle as she prays and holding something by the right hand.
Al-Thawr praised efforts of the security services at the airport for preserving the antique archeological pieces and preventing attempts to smuggle them outside the country.
