SANA'A, (Saba)- The Supreme Council for Improving Exports (SCIE) convened on Monday to discuss possible ways to improve non-oil exports within the general framework of exports, and present a feedback on the institutional situation of the council technical body.
During the meeting, chaired by Premier Ali Mujawar, the attendants shed some light on success range of the council technical body in promoting and improving exports volume and quality in the previous period.
A ministerial committee was formed in the meeting to assess current situation of the SCIE as a means to restructure its supposed role to heighten coordination level with other pertinent bodies. The committee would be chaired by Minister of Trade and Industry.
The council endorsed a non-governmental exports promotional study conducted by a specialized consultative company, calling on the committee to take it into consideration while performing its tasks.
A proposal for facilitating procedures to regain customs fees of exported stuff was directed to be presented to the cabinet for discussion.
The council also studied a report on the technical body's activities in fields of promoting Yemeni exports in a number of countries, inter institutional development through training and qualification, conducting relevant researches and studies and providing required information on the council website.
Moreover, the report included the tangible advance in the non-oil exports between 2001-2006 through which exports volume went up from YR25 billion to YR108 billion.
