Yemen, UNWTO to advance related cooperation

SANA'A, July 18 (Saba)- Minister of Tourism Nabil Faqih talked during his meeting on Wednesday with regional representative for Europe and the Middle East in the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Amr Abdul-Ghaffar joint cooperation aspects between Yemen and UNWTO and means of advancing and strengthening them.

The talks focused on administering tourist crisis relating to major events such as Marib terrorist attack, and the organization's technical support to Yemen to overcome the results of this incident.

The UNWTO is to send next September an international expert to draw up plans and programs concerning confronting tourism crises.

The two sides reviewed possibilities of dealing with tourist sources in the European countries and to search for new tourist markets to recompense for any failure or lossesthat may affect any tourist market.

The Minister acquainted the UNWTO official with tourist situations in Yemen, reviewing the accomplishments which have been realized by the Yemeni tourist sector over various levels.

For his part, the UNWTO official lauded steps and measures that Yemen adopts in dealing with the current crisis, and signing a number of agreements with international tourist companies in Europe to promote tourism in Yemen.

He confirmed the UNWTO support for the Yemeni tourist sector for its general importance.
