ANAA, March 23 (Saba) - Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf on Friday affirmed that the Yemeni government and people refuse any invitation or statement to recognize the annexation of occupied Syrian lands in the Golan Heights.
The foreign minister told Saba that any invitation or statement in this regard was a flagrant violation of international law, including Security Council resolution 497 issued in the year 1980, which was unanimously adopted approving not to recognize Israel's annexation of the occupied Arab territories in the Golan and to consider the annexation law null and void.
He stressed that such statements from the American president are rejected by the international community because what Trump calls contrary to international law is considered a prelude to creating instability in the region and comes at the same time to ignite crises and create confusion in the political situation to cover the shaky positions of the US president before legislative institutions in Washington and of Israeli prime minister who faces charges of corruption and bribery.
He pointed out that any new threat will not still a threat on a specific geographical area, but will extend its impact outside the region.
The minister concluded his statement by warning that such American statements contribute to the escalation of violence and extremism, which constitutes a threat to international peace and security.
