SANAA, Jan. 18 (Saba) - Oil prices surged on Friday after an OPEC report showed that the cartel's output fell sharply last month, easing concerns about a prolonged oversupply.
The WTI crude oil futures contract rose by 1.2% to $ 52.70 a barrel by 06:05 GMT, while Brent crude rose 1.1% to $ 61.84 a barrel.
Financial markets, including the oil market, were supported by a report in The Wall Street Journal on Thursday, which said Washington was considering raising tariffs on Chinese imports in whole or in part.
