SANA, 16 Nov. (Saba) - The Russian Health Ministry revealed that more than 100 people died in Syrian camp of Rukban during a month due to diseases and lack of medical care.
"Because of the disastrous health and epidemiological situation in the camp, there is a potential for epidemics and infectious diseases to spread, because the refugees do not have access to the necessary medical care," Russian Health Ministry spokesman Sergei Grabcha told a meeting of the Russian and Syrian presidential headquarters for the return of refugees.
"Last month alone, more than 100 people died in al-Rikban," he said, adding that "the situation is difficult and catastrophic in the camp."
Earlier,Amin Awad, the director of the Middle East and North Africa Bureau of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), said that the camp Rkban refugees in Syria can not work on a permanent basis, and must find a solution to allow the return of displaced persons to their homes.
