UNFPA: 1,500 pregnant women face the risk of death in Hodeidah

SANAA, Nov.15 (Saba) - The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Wednesday concerned for 1,500 pregnant women face the risk of death because of lack of access to Al-Thawra Hospital in Hodeidah Governorate, in statement oblation to Saba on Thursday.



Doctor Loay in Al-Thawra Hospital said this hospital is the only hospitals in Hodeidah provide emergency services.



He point that most hospitals and centers were closed, while some of them were opened with the least medical capacity, so it putting great strain on Al Thawra Hospital , it consist as the primary care center for newborns and mothers.



UNFPA will presents provide urgent humanity assistance and provide incentives for medical staff, he will work to reduce the humanitarian catastrophe in Yemen.



The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) called on all parties to the conflict to respect their legal obligations under international humanitarian law, and to facilitate humanitarian access to areas where populations are increasingly in need of assistance particularly Hodeidah which is now witnessing conflict and siege.
