SANAA, Nov. 13 (Saba) - Russian President Vladimir Putin began his visit to Singapore on Tuesday, meeting his Singaporean counterpart Halima Yacoub at the Istana Presidential Palace.
According to the Russian media, the courtyard of the palace witnessed the official ceremony for the reception of the great Russian guest, with the review of the guard of honor and playing national anthems of the two countries.
After the meeting, the two presidents took part in the ceremony laying the foundation stone for a Russian cultural center and an Orthodox church to be built in Singapore.
The Russian president arrived in Singapore earlier in the day on his first visit to the Asian country.
During his visit, Putin will take part in the ASEAN – Russia Summit and the East Asia Summit and hold bilateral meetings with leaders in the region.
