SANAA, Nov. 13 (Saba) - The Russia blamed Israel for the recent escalation in the Gaza Strip as a result of its military operation east of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip on Sunday evening.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the Israeli military infiltration into Gaza as "provocative", according to Russian media.

The ministry expressed deep concern over the escalation of tension between the Gaza Strip and "Israel", calling on the parties to return immediately to the cease-fire.

"We call on the Palestinians and Israelis to immediately return to a permanent ceasefire, show restraint and take measures to avoid a confrontation with unpredictable consequences," the statement read.

"On November 11, at least seven Palestinians and an Israeli officer were killed and others wounded during an armed clash between Palestinians and Israelis caused by Israeli forces' invasion of the Palestinian territories, followed by the firing of 17 rockets into "Israel" while nearly 40 targets in Gaza were hit by Israeli air strikes," the statement added.

"The Israeli army is mobilizing additional forces to the border with the Gaza Strip," the statement said, warning of this danger situation, which could explode into a large-scale military confrontation and lead to the collapse of the humanitarian situation in Gaza Strip.

Moscow called in the statement for reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas and the resumption of the settlement process with "Israel" in accordance with the principle of a two-state solution on the basis of the June 4, 1967 borders.
