DHAMAR, 6 Nov. (Saba) - Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Eng. Abdulmalik Kassem Al-Thawr inaugurated on Tuesday wheat harvest for the summer season in Takathour fields through contracting with the farmers of the General Corporation for improved seed and Gha Shara farm belonging to the corporation, in the framework of the corporation's activities launched in the Central Heights.



During the inauguration of the harvest , Eng. Abdullah Abdulkarim Al-Wadai briefed the Minister on the activities of the Foundation and its role in raising the seeds improved and providing the needs of farmers of high-productivity varieties.



He pointed out that the corporation contracted during the summer season with 65 farmers to farm an area of ​​218 hectares," adding that the production is expected to reach the current season to 300-400 tons of seeds.



Minister Al-Thawr praised the efforts of the Foundation in expanding the production of improved agricultural seeds to meet the needs of farmers.



He stressed the importance of expanding the production of grain to strengthen the state's tendencies in reducing the food gap, enhancing food security and reducing the import bill, especially in light of continued aggression and siege. He pointed out that the production of one sack of seeds is better than importing of three tons of wheat from abroad.



He affirmed that agriculture operates according to an integrated chain starting from the Agricultural Research Authority in producing varieties suitable for agricultural environments and delivery of varieties to the improved seed propagation organization, which in turn is working on seed multiplication and delivery to the newly established grain production organization to support the production process.

The minister visited Ga Shara farm.



The Minister briefed the bull on the progress of the wheat harvest for the current season and heard from the farmer's manager Eng. Abdulhakeem Abdulmaghani to an explanation on the progress of the work and the challenges facing the farm.



Abdulmaghani explained that the total area cultivated for the current season is 54 hectares, including 40 hectares of wheat, while the rest of the area was cultivated with barley, barley, parsley and maize.
