UNICEF: Over 3 million Yemeni children born since Saudi wages war

SANAA, Jan 17 (Saba) – UNICEF said more than 3 million children were born in Yemen since the US-backed Saudi-led aggression coalition waged war against the Arab country in March 2015, in a stamen it released on Tuesday.

The UN report stressed that the it will work hard to ensure its services for children, particularly whom will born during this year to be far away from their predecessors suffering.

"More than 3 million children were born in Yemen since the escalation in violence in March 2015 in the worst conditions and the hardest ," UNICEF Representative in Yemen, Michele Relano said in a press conference in the capital Sanaa.

She reviewed that 1, 600,000 children were born outside the hospitals and without any health supervision, which exposed their lives to danger, and 25,000 children die every year at birth or the first month of birth, while 30 percent live in deficient weights and 30 percent were born before the date of birth conditions were lacking for basic living materials such as clean water, food, and others.

"An estimated 1.5 million children are acutely malnourished, including nearly 400,000 severe acutely malnourished children who are fighting for their lives." Relano said according to the UNICEF report.

On the outbreak of the diphtheria, the UNICEF Representative in Yemen confirmed that the number of cases registered to date has reached 600.
