MOSCOW May 08. 2024 (Saba) - The Russian Foreign Ministry warned on Wednesday of the presence of French troops in the Ukrainian conflict zone, stressing that these forces will become a target for the Russian army if they are there.
Russian news agency Novosti quoted Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova as saying, "The French president confirmed his country's desire to create a kind of strategic dispersion for Russia, and we have to disappoint him."
Zakharova added: "For us the situation seems clearer, we have already confirmed for a long time that if the French come to the conflict zone, they will inevitably become targets of the Russian armed forces."
In a related context, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the statements of representatives of Western countries about their readiness to send troops to Ukraine require a responsible, rapid and effective response from Moscow.
Peskov said that the nuclear exercises recently announced by Russia are directly related to the recent provocative and escalating statements on the European continent by some European representatives.
