Rafic Hariri Airport security in Beirut stops plane holding Tel Aviv logo
[25/ April/2024]
BEIRUT April 25. 2024 (Saba) - General Directorate of Civil Aviation in Lebanon said on Thursday that an Ethiopian Airlines plane registered in Ethiopia under the number “ET-AXK” landed at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut, holding “Tel Aviv” logo.

The directorate said in a statement when the plane stopped in the designated parking spot on the aircraft apron, the airport security service informed us of the presence of the words “Tel Aviv” on the plane’s fuselage.

It indicated that after clarifying the matter with the Ethiopian company, it stated that it used to write down the name of the airport where the plane landed for the first time after purchasing it, and that they did not notice that matter before the plane’s flight to Rafic Hariri International Airport.

The statement continued “We asked the company to remove the phrase from the plane’s fuselage before allowing it to take off from Beirut, which is what actually happened, and the company removed the aforementioned phrase.

The statement continued: “We asked the company to remove the phrase from the fuselage of the airplane before allowing it to take off from Beirut, which actually happened, and the company removed the mentioned phrase, and the company was also asked to take the necessary measures to ensure that there is no logo related to the Zionist enemy entity on the company's airplanes before they land at Rafik Hariri International Airport.”

In May 2023, Lebanon announced that it prevented the Cypriot airline TUS AIR from flying in its airspace or landing at its international airport because some of its shares are owned by a Zionist company.
