SANAA, April 21 (Saba) - Deputy Prime Minister for Development and Economic Affairs Dr. Hussein Maqbouli discussed on Sunday with UNICEF Resident Representative Sara Beysolow Nyanti the possibility of supporting the National Vision for Education in the Republic of Yemen, which is being supervised by the Higher Council for Planning Education.

In the meeting, which was attended by Minister of Water and Environment Eng. Nabil al-Wazir and Secretary General of the Higher Council for Planning Education, Dr. Saylan al-Obeidi, Dr. Maqbouli explained that the preparation of the vision began since 2010 by local experts and was completed about 80 percent of it with the support of the World Bank but stopped due to aggression.

He pointed out the importance of supporting this vision aimed at developing education at all stages and types, and raising the capabilities and skills of the human cadre working in this field, the development of teaching methods encouraging and attractive for further education.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Development and Economic Affairs, stressed the need to support the requirements of the Yemeni people at this stage, especially supporting education as a cornerstone of the development process.

He stressed the keenness of the state to meet the aspirations of the Yemeni people to build a new Yemen with security, stability and peace, considering the achievement of this vision is an important step in this regard.

He said that the vision will be implemented within the framework of the strategy of the development of education 2020-2040, which will strengthen the factors protecting the rights of children, activating the role of young people in the service of society and reducing unemployment.

For her part, UNICEF Resident Representative stressed the importance of supporting child protection and education programs in Yemen.

She pointed out that the support of the national vision for education in Yemen will be discussed with the Education Section of the Organization and by communicating with local experts to determine what is required.

This vision was seen as an important step and vowed to seek funding for it.
