SANAA, Jan. 20 (Saba) - The Constitutional Court officially announced Sunday that Felix Chessykedi was elected president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

This came after she refused to accept the appeal of the election results presented by the exhibitionist Martin Fayulu,.


"The court declares Felix Chessykedi as president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where he won a simple majority," President of the court Benoît Luamba said.


With this declaration, Chessykedi becomes the fifth President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo since independence on 30 June 1960.


Chessykedi will succeed outgoing President Joseph Kabila, who has ruled the country since the murder of his father, Laurent Kabila, 18 years ago on January 16, 2001.


Martin Martin Fayulu, asked the international community not to recognize Chasekedi as president.


"From now on I consider myself the only legitimate president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo," Martin Fayulu, said after the Constitutional Court's rejected his appeal and the announcement of the victory of his rival.


He called on Congolese violin to organize "peaceful protests throughout the country" to protest against the decision of the Constitutional Court.
