SANAA, Dec. 18 (Saba) - South Korea confirmed on Monday that its northern neighbor had destroyed and disrupted some border guard posts.

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff announced on Dec. 12 that it had verified North Korea's destruction of 10 border guard posts and another disruption, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported.

The agency quoted the Chief of Staff Operations as saying that the Ministry of Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea had concluded that the border points being verified in the northern neighbor could no longer carry out any tasks as military points. North Korea has withdrawn all troops and military equipment from these border points, according to a military accord signed by the two sides on Sept. 19.

The accord was signed by South Korean military leaders after a third summit between South Korean President Moon Jae-un and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

North Korea conducted similar verification checks on December 12 to ensure the destruction of similar border points in South Korea.
