SANAA, Nov.14 (Saba) - Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday called for a regular dialogue between the ASEAN countries and the Eurasian Union, which includes Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, stressing that this will be an important step for both sides.


In a speech at the Russia-ASEAN summit in Singapore, the Russian president said that Moscow attaches great importance to the development of trade and economic relations with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

He pointed to the volume of trade between Russia and ASEAN, which increased by 35 percent last year compared to 2016, while the volume of investments between Russia and ASEAN exceeded 25 billion dollars.

He added that a roadmap for trade and economic cooperation is being successfully implemented, covering 60 joint ventures in industry and high technology.

The Russian president called on the ASEAN countries to participate in the activities of the Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) which will be held in September 2019.

The Russian president arrived in Singapore on Tuesday for a three-day visit during which he will take part in the Russia-ASEAN summit and the 13th summit of East Asia, attended by 18 countries, including 10 ASEAN members and Russia.
