GENEVA May 10. 2024 (Saba) - The World Health Organization (WHO) issued today, Friday, a warning of the collapse of the health system in Gaza Strip, due to the disruption of Rafah and Kerem Shalom crossings.
That came in statements by the organization’s spokeswoman, Margaret Harris, during the weekly press conference of the United Nations office in Geneva, about the situation in the besieged Gaza Strip, which is subject to a devastating Zionist aggression.
Harris said that the organization supported some health centers in Gaza, including Nasser Hospital, after Israel launched a ground attack on Rafah on May 6, and that this measure was implemented “as part of the emergency plan” despite the ground attack on Rafah in the south of the Strip.
She stated that the WHO is storing health supplies in various hospitals, and specific areas.
She pointed out the importance of fuel entering Gaza Strip, saying: “Without fuel, everything that is done in our hospital will stop, and it will no longer be possible to perform life-saving treatments here.”
“Without fuel, the entire health care system will collapse,” she added, stressing that destroying access to the health care system “would be catastrophic for everyone.”
For the sixth day in a row, the Zionist enemy army continues to close the Kerem Shalom commercial crossing and the Rafah crossing for the fourth day.
