GAZA May 08. 2024 (Saba) - On Wednesday, Palestinian factions rejected any guardianship of the Rafah crossing, considering it an occupation.
The factions pointed out that any plan to impose guardianship on the Rafah crossing will deal with its consequences as we deal with the occupation.
It stressed that managing the internal situation is a purely Palestinian affair that is agreed upon nationally through the mechanisms followed.
The factions called on Arab countries, led by Egypt, to reject any attempts to infringe on Palestinian-Egyptian sovereignty over the Rafah crossing.
Hussein al-Sheikh, secretary-general of the PLO's Executive Committee, said, "We reject any form of guardianship over the Rafah crossing and attempts to infringe on Palestinian sovereignty over it in partnership with our brothers in Egypt."
On Tuesday, the Israeli army spokesman officially announced the army's control of the Rafah crossing from the Palestinian side.
The tanks fired several shells before storming the crossing, which was the only one that was far from the control of the Zionist enemy.
Zionist tanks stormed the Rafah crossing on the Egyptian-Palestinian border for the first time since the Israeli army withdrew from the Gaza Strip in 2005.
