TEHRAN May 07. 2024 (Saba) - Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian stressed that cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency should not be affected by America’s unstable and contradictory approach and behavior.
Abdullahian indicated during his meeting today with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Tehran, that his visit to Iran took place at the appropriate time, especially in light of the complex and sensitive circumstances that the region is going through, pointing at the same time to the American record of violating previous covenants and agreements.
Related to Iran's peaceful nuclear program. Abdullahian said: Cooperation between Tehran and the IAEA must not be affected by this destructive approach.
The Iranian Foreign Minister stressed the importance of the status and role of the International Atomic Energy Agency and added: Taking neutral and professional positions on your part as Director General of the Agency, in addition to your influential support for cooperation between Iran and the Agency, is also influential in the return of security and sustainable stability to the region.
In addition, Abdullahian stressed that the threats made by some Zionist officials to use nuclear bombs are blatant threats to regional and international peace and security, and he emphasized in particular the very important role of the International Atomic Energy Agency in the face of such dangerous statements issued by officials of an entity that possesses an arsenal of nuclear weapons.
For his part, Grossi described Iran's role and position in establishing sustainable stability and security in the region as important, considering Iran's approach to strengthening reassuring cooperation with the agency as coming in this context.
