ANKARA May 2. 2024 (Saba) - Students of 17 Turkish universities on Thursday organized simultaneous marches in support of pro-Palestine protests at American and European universities.
Simultaneous marches were held at the universities of Istanbul, Marmara, Sabahattin Zaim, Medipol, Sakarya, Kayseri, Yozgat and Mardin.
Marches were also held at the universities of Tigris, Selcuk, Adnan Menderes, Kocatepe, Aegean and Euphrates, March 18 and Ankara.
Participants in the marches chanted slogans condemning the ongoing Zionist genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.
On April 18, students rejecting the war on Gaza began a sit-in at Columbia University in New York, demanding that its administration stop its academic cooperation with Israeli universities and withdraw its investments in companies that support the occupation of the Palestinian territories.
Later, the unprecedented student movement in the United States spread to universities in countries such as France, Britain, Germany, Canada and India, all of which witnessed demonstrations in support of their counterparts in American universities and demands to stop the war on Gaza and boycott companies that supply Israel with weapons.
