BAGHDAD April 20. 2024 (Saba) - The Iraqi Foreign Ministry expressed its deep concern over the sabotage attack that targeted the Iranian city of Isfahan. She warned of the dangers of military escalation in the region in general.
The ministry said in a statement on Saturday that it "expresses its grave concern over the attack that targeted the city of Isfahan in the Islamic Republic of Iran (Friday morning)."
She added: "It continuously monitors tension in the region and warns of the dangers of military escalation, which threatens security and stability in the region in general."
The ministry stressed that "this escalation should not distract attention from the destruction and loss of innocent lives in the Gaza Strip."
It renewed its call on the international community to carry out its duties and work to stop this suffering immediately.
The Iraqi Foreign Ministry also commented on the failure of the UN Security Council to grant Palestine full membership in the United Nations.
She regretted the Council's failure to pass a draft resolution recommending that Palestine be granted full membership in the United Nations.
The Iraqi Foreign Ministry stressed that Palestine has a historical right to establish its state, and depriving it is a violation of the rights of the Palestinian people, which exposes the region to the risk of permanent instability, and portends devastating consequences, especially in light of the continuation of the war against Gaza and the failure of international efforts to end the crisis.
