NEW YORK Apr 18. 2024 (Saba) - UNRWA is under huge pressures and vicious campaign to abandon the occupied territories of Palestine, General Commissionaire of the UN relief agency said.
Israel seeks to terminate UNRWA work, and refused "our repeated demands to deliver assistance to North Gaza," Fylyb Lazaryny added in his briefing to the UN Security Council.
The agency cannot deliver humanitarian assistance to Gaza, despite the ICJ decisions calling on Israel to increase deliveries, he said, as UNRWA work area in Gaza declines following the Israeli restrictions.
Some countries still pauses UNRWA funding, undermining the agency's fiscal stability, he added, warning that UNRWA disassembly would deepen humanitarian crisis and accelerate famine in Gaza.
